Augusta: Confederate Bible Society, 1862. Likely a first for an Augusta imprint. HB. More like stiff wraps, this Bible was meant to be carried in a blouse/jacket pocket. Brown cloth binding and gold title on spine that is almost unreadable. Little water stain on top left portion and bottom 1/4 inch of the title page and ffep. Same on the back endpapers. However, it does not reach the text which is bright white. It is faint and does not hinder verbiage. Book very tight and square, overall VG/VG+. / No Jacket but housed in a beautiful custom made clamshell box. See photos. Item #216

CONFEDERATE IMPRINT. Parrish 8360. Crandall 4215. VERY SCARCE. This dealer has seen this imprint but three times in 25 years, each time it sold for over $3,000. A small Bible meant to be carried in the field.

The Bible carries an Augusta imprint, which was the home of the Confederate Bible Society. However, it was printed in Atlanta. That's the way it should be.
