The Count, a French aristocrat, served with distinction as a captain in the Union Army during the Seven Days Campaign. He joined McClellan's staff for a year before resigning from the Army. He later wrote a decent four volume narrative of the War. The meat of it is the Gettysburg portion, Volume Two of the set. Therefore, it was reprinted as this stand alone volume.
