Private Bevens served in the First Arkansas Infantry, CSA. Most all his service was in the Western Theater. There is much ephemera included, a letter written and signed by Bevens explaining why he wrote the book – “tired of reading general’s and colonel’s accounts.” There are some newspaper clippings tipped in from about the time the book was printed- return of a Confederate flag and an obit likely for his 99 year old wife.
