This book is intended for school use and has been prepared for probably middle school aged youth. this is one in a series on famous Confederate military leaders. The one on Forrest is rare and expensive when found. This is a sympathetic biography.
(About the time this narrative was written it had been determined that virtually all the War accounts came from the North with their slant. Dr. Hunter McGuire was a proponent of Southerners writing Southern history. This looks like one of those efforts).
