Lieutenant Colonel Andrews was commander of the First Maryland Light Artillery. He was severely wounded at Winchester during the march to Gettysburg. He recovered but could not go into the field again. Hence, off to Europe to seek arms. Remained there until the War was over. After the War he became a noted architect.
