Austin: University of Texas Press, 1964. First. Hard Cover. NF. / NF. Item #474

BOOK SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY PROFESSOR ROLAND.

A complete biography on the man with the diverse military background. He was commander of the prestigious Second Dragoons (US Cavalry), a member of the Texas Republic administration and one of the highest ranking full Confederate generals. He was killed at Shiloh which had an obvious adverse effect on the Confederate leadership in the West. It is probably arguable that he was the preeminent soldier in the country just prior to the Civil War.

Printed in a small quantity, its value increased significantly upon release.
