Nevins I-66: “…comprehensive biography, much primary material…” The 148th Pennsylvania Infantry fought at Gettysburg, Sharpsburg, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. It lost 12 officers and 198 men KIA. James Beaver was the 148th’s colonel. He was wounded four times while leading his regiment in Hancock’s famous corps.He later became governor of PA. This book is very heavily CW.

A special book covering two separate, but related subjects. It is inscribed to Belva Lockwood in 1888, a noted American activist of that era. She was a lawyer and woman suffrage leader. SHE WAS ALSO THE FIRST WOMAN TO RUN FOR THE AMERICAN PRESIDENCY. SHE SOUGHT THE OFFICE AT THE 1884 AND 1888 ELECTIONS.
