VOLUME ONE IS SIGNED AND INSCRIBED TO TOM PARRISH, NOTED CONTEMPORARY CIVIL WAR HISTORIAN.

One of the most popular Civil War histories written. There are nearly 3,000 words to this work. The publisher reports over 400,000 sets were sold. It is written in narrative format without footnotes. (Foote did not want the reader's mind to wander from the main theme while searching for footnote information). As most know, Foote gained much notoriety as a commentator on Ken Burn's series on the War which was/is the most watched series on public television ever. Shelby Foote was available for book signings early, but was adamant he would not sign any of his works for ANYONE in later years.

All three books are bound in first printing dust jackets (Yes, there is a first printing dust jacket) even though Volume One is a third printing.(signed volume).
