A really rare Ohio unit history. Written in 1865 when memories were fresh. The 7th entered the War early and served first in what was to become West Virginia. They moved to the Valley where they suffered at Cedar Mountain and during other engagements. It joined the Army of the Potomac through Gettysburg when it transferred to the West. It arrived there in time for Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge. It fought with Sherman through Resaca when its enlistment expired. The 7th had a total of 1800 members and lost 184 KIA making it a Fox's Fighting 300 unit. There are biological sketches on nearly all the regiment's officers.
