Reminiscences of the Civil War:
Hillsboro, TX: Hillsboro Mirror Print, 1902. First. Hard Cover. This in its original gray cloth binding. Small discoloration at bottom of front board. Text VG+. / None. Item #562
A very rare and expensive Hood's Texas Brigade related book. The author was a member of the famed Fifth Texas Infantry, arguably in one of the best brigades on either side. "Texans always turn them" and "Lee to the rear!" are two famous incidents with this brigade. In all the major fights and fought well.
Chock full of personal anecdotes. Stevens was captured at Gettysburg and served the rest of the War as a POW.
Howes 970, Dornbusch II Texas-105, not in Nevins.
(For a less expensive copy see Item # 552).
