TWO THICK VOLUMES.
Appears that President Davis may not have gotten all he wanted to say in his own lengthy two volume dissertation. Thought is he likely dictated part of Varina's narrative. The relationship of the two was often a stormy one. Davis was usually unyielding in his positions and a smart and headstrong wife like Varina could be a serious issue. Varina had her opinions and was not adverse to espousing them. Still an important Confederate account!
