THE 34TH WAS A FOX FIGHTING 300 REGIMENT.

It was known as the Rock River Rifles because most members were recruited in Northwest Illinois along the Rock River. The regiment served in the Army of the Cumberland while fighting its main battles at Shiloh, Corinth, Stone’s River, Chickamauga, the Atlanta Campaign, and Sherman's March to the Sea.
