The Campaign of Chancellorsville: A Strategic and Tactical Study.

Dayton, OH: Morningside Press, [1984}. Circa Mid-1980s reprint. Hard Bound. VG+. This reprint is top quality, the maps are excellent reproductions, the text is bright on good quality paper, and all is in a sturdy binding. An oversized and heavy volume. / None. Item #602

Bigelow’s work is thought to be the ultimate study of the Chancellorsville Campaign. It contains 47 maps and illustrations (all present) and is a lengthy narrative containing over 500 pages. First published by Yale press, there were 100 copies numbered although many escaped numbering. This is probably the best reprint effort I have encountered.

Nevins I-23: “A masterful study—one of the finest ever written on an American campaign…thoroughly documented and notably impartial.” Internet, $80.
