Item #626 Rambling Recollections of a Military Engineer. James R. Willett.
Rambling Recollections of a Military Engineer.

Rambling Recollections of a Military Engineer.

Chicago: MOLLUS, Chicago. 1888. First. Wraps. Good. Both wraps present but loose. / None. Item #626

The most important word in the title is "Rambling." Willett evidently began the War in Southwest Missouri and eventually wound up attached to the 23 Illinois. He was assigned as an inspector of railroad defenses and served in the West. His commentary of this business is interesting but he also preaches a lot. Unfortunately, he did not act as a true military engineer, a most important post, but as an inspector of fortifications and specifically blockhouses.

But recollections by military engineers are scare!
